Dump Truck Overturns On Rt. 202, Scattering Dirt And Injuring Driver (Update)

A dump truck carrying dirt overturned and shut down Route 202 in Hunterdon County Monday afternoon, July 31, authorities said.

The truck overturned on the southbound side near River Road in Raritan Township around 12:30 p.m., the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad said.

Responders found the truck overturned in the left turn lane. The load of soil it was carrying had been dumped into the northbound lanes alongside a large diesel leak.

All lanes were temporarily shut down in both directions north of Barley Sheak Road/River Road, the NJDOT said.

Meanwhile, the driver was taken to Hunterdon Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries as crews cleared the scene in about an hour.
